Step 3- Obtain and submit your INS Application

Call the US Immigration and Naturalization Service office toll-free at 1-800-870-3676 to obtain a I 600A Form
or download the form from INS ONLINE.

You may also call the Adoption Source office, and we will be happy to send you the form (I 600A)

Adoptive parents forward completed INS Form I 600A including a cashier’s check in the amount of $545.00 plus $70.00 per person over 18 years of age residing with you for fingerprinting to INS.

You must also include certified copies of your marriage license, birth certificates, previous three years tax returns and any prior divorce decrees*.

It is recommended that the documents be delivered to INS by overnight carrier (with a tracking number) directly to the District Adjudications Officer who will handle your application
(you may contact Adoption Source for this information).

You will be contacted by your local INS with appointment date and time and place for you to be fingerprinted. The normal processing time for INS clearance varies from state to state. Adoption Source will advocate on your behalf with your local INS office to expedite your application when need be.

*You may send the supporting documents in the form of copies
if you fill out the “copied documents” form.
